All new scientific endeavors carry inherent concerns about risks of the unknown. As one of the oldest companies in the nano-space, we have a long history of commitment to safe development of the technology. In more than two decades in industry, we’ve worked with countless researchers, employees, customers and, through them, literally millions of end-users without any reported safety problems. That legacy – and that commitment -- continue today.

Our Focus on Employee Safety

At Nanofilm, we take the utmost care in safeguarding the safety of our employees. We’ve developed safety guidelines that align with the well-recognized standards of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and other regulatory bodies. All the nanoparticles that we use are made and/or handled within a closed system, thus minimizing any generation of a free nanoprticles in the workplace. In addition, we have created a standard of practice that is to be followed by all employees, criteria for determining potential exposure hazards, control measures to manage them, and response procedures in case of accidental exposure.

We use equal care in transporting our products and helping assure their safe use in our customers’ facilities. That includes carefully defined mailing, shipping and transportation policies and formal material safety and data sheets to accompany all products.

Our Leadership in the Public Debate on Nanotechnology

Nanofilm has been an open, active participant in all levels of discussion on nanotechnology. From meeting with national legislators and regulators to creating a dialogue with academic researchers, interest groups and the media, we’ve been a part of educational and exploratory forums examining various perspectives on safety and environmental issues.
