Nanofilm's Capabilities

Designing thin films one molecule at a time.

Nanofilm has been commercializing nano-coatings since shortly after its founding in 1985. Our technology portfolio solves customers' problems where optically clear, thin (nanometers to microns) coatings, self-assembling nano-layers, or nanocomposites are required.

Nanofilm develops proprietary films and also partners with companies to formulate custom coatings or reformulate existing coatings to add new properties. The core competencies needed to accomplish this include expertise in nanoparticle selection; functionalization coupled with coating formulation; technology in the areas of siloxanes, acrylics and urethanes on substrates such as glass, plastic, textiles and others; expertise in surface chemistry and physics; and knowledge of application development.

Nanofilm's thin film coatings products may have one or more of the following functional properties using our nanotechnology and nanoparticle know-how:

  • Hydrophobic
  • Hydrophilic
  • Anti-static
  • UV resistant or rejecting
  • Anti-reflective
  • Anti-microbial
  • Infrared resistant or rejecting
  • Abrasion resistant
  • Chemical resistant
  • Self cleaning
  • Electrically conducting
  • Function selectively over a broad temperature range

Markets where these films have application:

  • Aviation/Aerospace
  • Marine
  • Optical
  • Cinematography
  • Automotive/Transportation
  • Consumer
  • Medical Optics
  • Electronics/Displays

Nanofilm Surfactant Technology

As an outgrowth of expertise in coatings, Nanofilm has developed surfactant products which clean and treat surfaces, or provide anti-fog or other properties.
